One of the CAJLS' activities is writing and publishing books for use in the classroom. These books are sold to schools on the East Coast, as well as in Japan and are used in some member school classrooms. There are different series for different age groups and every book has hand drawn original illustrations and has a comprehensive study guide and teachers manual available.

The textbooks in the Yasahii NIHONGO series were written for children whose native language is English. All materials have been extensively classroom tested. The authors have paid special attention to children's interests. Numerous lively illustrations help children learn Japanese in a way that is stimulating and fun.
